Why Freehold Masterpiece, Published by Writers of the West, Is Not Your Typical Money Book

The title sounds like a finance book.

It isn’t. At least, not in the usual sense.

There are no chapters promising to turn $1,000 into $1 million. No morning routine for billionaires. No lecture about skipping coffee and investing the difference.

Freehold Masterpiece for Money Lovers is about something much less glamorous and, for the right reader, probably much more useful: the company itself.

Author Yosef Bogatyrev has spent years working with corporate structures. His argument is essentially that people put enormous thought into what business to start while giving surprisingly little thought to where and how that business should legally exist.

For him, Singapore deserves a serious look.

Freehold Masterpiece

So, Why Singapore?

Bogatyrev keeps returning to stability, reputation and taxes.

But he doesn’t stop there.

He gets into the parts people discover after they actually establish a company.

There is a chapter about local directors. Another about shares. Another about managing business finances. There are sections on ongoing obligations, closing a company, security deposits and relocation. The later portion of the book looks at exploring the world with a Singapore company.

It sounds terribly corporate when listed like that.

The actual writing isn’t.

One chapter is titled “What, for God’s sake, is a Local Director?”

That tells you roughly what sort of business book you are dealing with.

He Has Been on the Other Side of the Desk

Bogatyrev isn’t writing about Singapore because it happens to be a major financial center.

He has lived and worked there for 15 years and has worked in corporate administration since 1998. He formed his own Singapore entity in 2010.

That personal history shows up throughout the book.

There is theory, yes. But there are also the questions that appear after the incorporation certificate arrives.

How do you get paid internationally?

What does the local director actually do?

Can your company help you relocate?

What happens every year after incorporation?

And what if you eventually want to close the company?

The Bigger Idea

The most interesting idea in Freehold Masterpiece may not actually be about Singapore.

It is about thinking of a company as infrastructure.

For a freelancer, entrepreneur or investor whose life increasingly crosses national borders, the legal structure behind the work can affect payments, investment, liability and expansion.

Bogatyrev makes the case throughout the book for considering Singapore as that corporate base.

Readers can decide whether the structure makes sense for their own circumstances. But they will probably finish the book knowing considerably more about how a Singapore company actually works than they did when they started.

And that is a more useful promise than getting rich because you stopped buying coffee.

Published by Writers of the West, Freehold Masterpiece for Money Lovers brings Yosef Bogatyrev’s years of corporate experience together in one accessible book.
